02 · REVISION CONTROL

Why “final” still needs a revision file.

DfT’s historical revision file changes fields in previously published records. In the snapshot reviewed here, 637 of the 824 corrections affect 2024 records and 637 concern the restricted-lane field.

01

Release identity
Counts are tied to the final 2025 files, not an earlier provisional release.

02

Severity boundary
The figures use published unadjusted severity fields. Adjusted estimates are not mixed into them.

03

Change detection
The projection is rebuilt when the checksum-linked upstream revision file changes.

SOURCE & LIMITS

What this page can support.

It supports dated comparisons of the published STATS19 record. It cannot establish why a collision happened, measure unreported incidents or prove that one road rule caused an observed outcome.
